Management Team

Qmecom was founded as QDC Technologies in 2003 by Ian Herdman and Danny Gruber, who have extensive experience in marketing communications, IT management and global software development. QDC Technologies is the parent company for the Qmecom suite of brands.

Ian Herdman — Chairman

Ian has extensive experience in marketing management and the marketing communications industry across Australia, New Zealand and the Asia Pacific region. Ian was a founding partner of Mattingly Y&R Advertising, then CEO and Chairman of the Grey Communications Group Australia and New Zealand. Ian and Danny have worked together to build Qmecom since May 2003.

David Crothers — Chief Executive Officer

David Crothers brings over 25 years of experience in the marketing communications industry to his role as CEO of Qmecom. David has both senior business and client management experience garnered in roles as Managing Director of J Walter Thompson, Grey Worldwide and Mattingly & Partners. David has extensive experience in new media and has dealt with some of the biggest names in consumer marketing including Ford, Kraft, Nestle, Shell, Mitre 10, Myer, Beaurepaires and Woolworths.

Danny Gruber — Chief Operating Officer

Before Qmecom, Danny Gruber was one of Australia’s leading innovators in IT, as Sales Manager for Dun and Bradstreet Software. He founded the Virtual Reality Corporation and Global Videoconferencing Technology, then built Telstra’s Conferencing Managed Services capability. Danny provided Qmecom early genesis with his work establishing Quicktakes in June 2000. Danny and Ian met in May 2002.

Scott Thomson — Chief Technology Officer

Scott Thomson has been responsible for building Qmecom scaleable operating platform that fully supports product delivery to a global market. With experience gained working in global management roles with Computer Associates, Cimage Novasoft and Spatial Information, Scott is well versed in software architecture, project management, technical development and the management of technical support teams. Scott leads the patent development of Qmecom’s CRM/Content Creation Engine.

Aran Rhee — Solutions Manager

System Architecture expert Aran Rhee is ideally placed to build and manage Qmecom’s graphical user interface, rich content integration and all aspects of multimedia development. His experience gathered in roles with the Niche Design Group, Swinburne University and FUSE now sees him planning and creating complex applications involving all media elements — streaming video, Macromedia Flash, Content Delivery Networks and multi-user capabilities.

Brian Bowley — Director

As a Director of Qmecom, Brian Bowley’s extensive advertising industry experience is well-utilised. Based in Perth, Brian was the Managing Director of MJB&B, one of Perth’s most successful agencies. Working with Ian Herdman in various guises since 1985, Brian was a member of Mattingly & Partners Group and Grey Communications. Brian is closely involved working with Qmecom to establish appropriate strategic direction.

David Cannington— Vice President USA

David is responsible for building Qmecom’s US business and has held senior account management and marketing positions in the USA, UK and Australia for UB Foods, Cadbury Schweppes and McCann Erickson.  In 2001 David was appointed as Founding CEO of ANZA Technology Network – which advised, mentored and facilitated US market entry strategies for over 200 Australian and New Zealand technology companies.
