Acceptable use
This site publishes reference configuration for network equipment. That material is useful to the people who operate networks and it would be equally useful to someone trying to interfere with one, so the boundary is stated explicitly here rather than left to inference.
Permitted use
- Reading, printing and internally redistributing the reference configurations for the purpose of designing, building, operating or auditing a network you are authorised to work on.
- Adapting a configuration for use on equipment you own or administer, or that your employer or client has engaged you to administer.
- Citing a page, with a link, in operational documentation, a change record, a design review or a training course.
- Automated retrieval by search engine, archival and content classification crawlers. No crawl budget is imposed; see /robots.txt.
Prohibited use
- Applying any configuration from this site to equipment you are not authorised to administer.
- Using the material to interfere with, degrade or gain unauthorised access to any network or system.
- Republishing pages wholesale as your own work, or mirroring the catalogue with the attribution removed.
- Automated retrieval at a rate that degrades service for other readers.
What we will not publish
We refuse categories of material that a reader might otherwise expect to find on a network configuration site. This is an editorial commitment, not a disclaimer:
| No credentials or key material | No passwords, pre-shared keys, certificates, community strings or API tokens, live or expired. Where a configuration needs one, the value is removed. |
|---|---|
| No live addressing or customer identifiers | Examples use only the documentation ranges reserved by RFC 5737, RFC 3849 and RFC 6996. Nothing published here points at operational infrastructure belonging to us or to anyone else. |
| No control-evasion material | Configuration that enforces a policy is in scope. Configuration or technique whose purpose is to defeat filtering, inspection, logging, geographic restriction or lawful interception is not, and will not be published here. |
| No software distribution | No firmware, operating system images, licence keys, exploit code or tooling of any kind. The catalogue is human-readable text describing device configuration. |
| No user uploads | There is no upload endpoint, no public storage area and no anonymous publication path. Contributions arrive by email and are published only after editorial review under our own byline. |
| No advertising or tracking | No third-party scripts, advertising networks, behavioural analytics or tracking pixels are served from this domain. |
No warranty
Reference configurations are published in good faith and validated on the platform and software release each page names. Networks differ. A configuration that is correct on our lab equipment may be wrong, incomplete or harmful on yours. You are responsible for reviewing anything you take from this site, for testing it under change control, and for the consequences of applying it. QME Communications LLC accepts no liability for loss arising from use of this material.
Reporting misuse
To report material on this site that you believe crosses one of the lines above, or use of this material against a network you are responsible for, write to abuse@qmecom.com with the URL and the specific concern. We act on reports from network operators, computer security incident response teams and content filtering vendors.
